SPIRE LAB, IISc, is leading an initiative to create resources for advancing speech technology, particularly in automatic speech recognition (ASR). As part of this innovative project, we are inviting applications for positions involving speech recording collection and transcription in local dialects.
Job Profile
Position Name: Speech recordings along with transcription in your local dialect
Skills and Requirements
- Basic computer knowledge and typing skills.
- Ability to read and understand both the native dialect and the standard version of your local language.
- A degree in a language-related course or program is an added advantage.
- Must own a laptop/desktop and an Android smartphone.
- Familiarity with Google Docs, Sheets, and Google Transliteration.
- Reliable internet connectivity.
Job Location
This is a remote position. You can work from the comfort of your home or any location of your choice.

- Open to Undergraduates, Graduates, and Postgraduates.
- Both freshers and experienced individuals are welcome to apply.
Job Description and Responsibilities
- You will be provided with a set of topics covering agriculture, finance, and general domains.
- Your task involves reading, understanding, and familiarizing yourself with the given topics.
- Engage in conversations with people (friends, relatives, etc.) in the local dialect of the selected language.
- Accurately transcribe these recordings in the same dialect and submit both the audio recordings and transcriptions.
- Candidates will be required to complete a pilot task. Selection will be based on satisfactory performance in this task.
